After Effects render crash/reboot

New Here ,
Oct 20, 2021 Oct 20, 2021

Hi All,

I have a huge problem with rendering my project files, this is for inside after effects as for the media encoder.

After a couple of hours of rendering my PC will automaticly reboot - my render crashes.

This start happening a couple of days ago, but before that I had never any kind of trouble. Nothing had changed or installed, it just happends all of the sudden.

I troubleshoot google, and this forum. I rendered with all the acceleration off, no GPU - only CPU on. Still crashes.

I used the cloudcleaner tool also, but after that it still crashes.

My specs:

AMD ryzen 9 5950x

NVIDIA ASUS 3090 strix OC

G -skill 3600 - 64 RAM

2x nvme - samsung 980 pro 1tb ( 2 tb in total of nvme)

2x SSD - samsung 870 QVO 2 tb (4 tb in total of SSD)

Corsair 1200 watt powersuply (gold)

Everything is watercooled

I tried to switch different SSD/NVME - also didn't helped.

I really need some help here.

Without any info about the contents of the project, render settings and some crash info we can't realyl tell you much. if it only started happening a few days or weeks ago, chances are that a system update replaced a crucial DLL or a driver got updated automatically. Similarly, you could still have installed some tool that messed things up. Such specific issues are realyl nearly impossible to diagnose without the specifics.

Hi Mylenium,

Thanks for your reply.

My render settings:

Format: H.264  (I also used AVI - this failed too)

Preset: Youtube 1080p full HD

I used both options software and hardware rendering (both failed)

I set the bitrate to 10 (was 16).

Video is around 19 minutes, this shouldn't be a issue because I rendered 30 to 40 minutes last week.

I also updated/reinstalled my GPU driver. I used the studio driver as the game driver from Nvidia. Both failed to finish my render.

Is their anything I missed to mention?
