Question

After Effects Render Fail

  • October 9, 2019

I know this subject will confuse lot of folks. Kinda duplicate question...

However my problem is quite different. I have a time of 20sec. Which has many pre-composed elements, that includes mp4 videos, 3d layers with effects and masks as well.

when I render it happens something like this:

it will stop after 1:07 seconds

re try: will stop at 1:30 seconds

re try: will stop at 2:05 seconds

re try: will stop at 3:03 seconds

these are just examples it may stop anywhere.. some it will stop at 0:05 seconds of timeline.

I looked in the log but it has nothing just saves settings and last line is something like this:

finish at 3:03sec

I don't know what is happening?

Your CPU i3 is VERY low for AE - so I repeat my first question:

Does is preview render in full resolution with motion blur activated (if used) in AE?

If not, there is no way to go on until this is solved. Best you can try is to render image sequence. In render settings you can set to skip exisiting frames. Let it crunch through until every frames is rendered. If there are frames which cannot be rendered, you have to reduce the project (remove effects, lower resolution and stuff like this) or render it on a more powerful computer.

Thank you so much Martin... and Rick Sir... Thank you...

You were correct that was because of my system it was not rendering completely. I followed your guidance.

1) I pre-rendered them in the Timeline itself

2) Rendered it as a PNG sequence

3) Imported them in Premier and placed the audio

and Voila! ALL GOOD...

Lastly, I would like to know will there be a compromise when I will export the final product as MP4 from Premier because of PNG? If yes what's the best one under sequence?

What do you mean by "compromise"?

Here are my PC specifications:

Intel i3 8th Gen

16GB RAM

1 TB HDD - more than 300GB free space

I am using Render Queue to export.

Settings I've tried are: H.264 (primarily)  AVI uncompressed, PNG Sequence, MPEG4... with and without Audio, Resize to 1280 x 720 (original composition size is 1920x1080).

I don't know how much this information will be helpful. But we have purchased a third party After effects package and just changed a few images and videos in pre-composed elements. I tried replacing videos with simple JPG images as well.

I'm attaching a screenshot and log file of the latest output.

Yesterday I tried to check if using Re-Try could help. I mean I kept retrying but it went only till 5sec and some frames then it started to fail at 5 frames or 15 frames. I tried Purge as well, but nothing is working...

Most likely cause - running out of resources. Try purging everything using the Edit menu. Make sure you have enough free space. Close all other applications. Use the Render Cue instead of the Adobe Media Encoder and render it to a production format using the default lossless Output Module template unless you are an expert in video compression and formats, then render your deliverable using the rendered production master and the Adobe Media Encoder.

The only other option I can think of requires that you provide complete production workflows and screenshots so we have some idea what is going on in the comps and the render settings.

Thank you, Sir, for your reply.. however, the problem is not yet solved. Please refer to my reply

Does is preview render in full resolution with motion blur activated (if used) in AE?

What are your computer specs, are you exporting to a drive with enough space and write permission?

I always render image sequences out of AE - especially when comps are heavy and complex (like yours). You don't have to worry about failed renders, you just start where it fails and continue from there on. And you can reimport those sequence and final render it through AME after wards without any issues.
