Hello, so recently I upgraded from an Radeon R9 290 to a Radeon RX 6700 XT. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900X and I have 32 GB of fast RAM, so overall a pretty huge PC.
Now for some reason After Effects now struggles at tasks that have never been a problem in the past. I'm talking about scenes that played almost smoothly in the past, that now render with 0.5 frames per second. I'd say with the GPU upgrade I've achieved about 90% performance loss. Now obviously something isn't right and I checked the tasked manager. CPU is getting used for 5-10% while my GPU is getting used for about 1%. I already tried switchting through older versions and enabling/disabling GPU acceleration.
Can anyone help me with this problem? After Effects literally got unusable for me. 😕

Have you tried updating your drivers? If you have and it is fully up to date, you could also try rolling back to a previous driver to see if the issue persists.

Did AE utilize our old GPU before the upgrade?
I'm asking, because AE isn't a GPU based applications, only a few tasks and plugins are GPU driven. The issue might not be connected with the GPU upgrade in any ways. Sadly, 10% CPU and 1% GPU usage is a real thing for AE, depending on what you are creating.
Are you comparing the same project with the same AE version?
