After Effects slow preview

New Here ,
Aug 04, 2022 Aug 04, 2022

I am using the latest version of the application. The preview is progressing very slowly. Even though it's not 1/4 resolution, the preview is very slow. How can I solve this problem? I think it's with the last update. my system is Mac mini m1, 1tb SSD, 16GB ram.

Hi Samim Kerem25518968xltp,

Sorry for your issue.

Please share more details so that we can troubleshoot the issue properly.

  • What's happening exactly? Is it the green bar that progresses slowly or it's the preview even if the timeline is cached?
  • Does it happen in all the projects? Can you test the performance on a new project?
  • Please share some details on your project. Which effects and third-party plug-ins are you using? Also, what are the details of the media (frame size, format/codec) if you're using any?

As the basic maintenance, you can try clearing media cache (go to Edit > Purge > All Media & Disk Cache).

Let us know.

Thanks,

Nishu

If an update is causing problems, first clear the cache, then trash the preferences. If that does not fix the problem, roll back one version using the Creative Cloud app.

Open Creative Cloud, go to All Apps, select the three dots to the right of the Open button for After Effects and select "Other versions."
