After Effects Team Projects Error: 'A nullptr was dereferenced.'

I've been working in a team project in After Effects with co-workers for a few weeks now and we're encountering this error whenever we try to retrieve comps from previous saves. We're also unable to share new changes with each other or invite other team members to the project. Things worked well for a few weeks but now it appears like the team project is dead in the water.

Team projects has a lot of potential for remote teams like us, but this will force us to abandon the workflow for any client work. Is there a solution?

Are you still having the issue? Let us know.

I am moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for now.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hey Nishu, we never found a solution to this problem so we abandoned the Team Projects workflow and just ended up sharing AE collects the old-fashioned way. Would love for Team Projects to be more functional in the future so we can use it for our next project though!

Those are the 2 areas based on what I can see from the log file so far.

That's an interesting thought! I don't believe the tracker is being used in this project, but I'm sure some of us has logitech drivers installed (e.g. for webcam). Are there any other possible causes you can think of?

Thanks. It looks like your Logitech camera may have installed an encoder on to your machine which is causing an issue with AE. So that we can get that issue out of the way, can you try:

  • Uninstall all Logitech drivers from Device Manager.
  • Go to the folder C:/Windows/System32 and delete the file lvcode64.dll or lvcod64.dll.

That may not be the ultimate cause here, the log also suggests something to do with the Tracker functionality in AE is failing. Is there something in your project using the Tracker?

Also, can you enabled logging (Help -> Enable Logging), reproduce the error, then go Help -> Reveal Log Files... and post back the contents of After Effects Log.txt? That might give us some clue of what is going on.

So is it when you go to open a comp in the retrieved team project or some other steps?
