After Effects Transition Help

Hi, I am currently trying to work on a project within After Effects. We are required to add transitions, and I am new to doing so on this program. I am trying to transition from clip to clip, but seem to be unable to do so as my "clip" consists of multiple layers. I have attached a photo below. What should I do to go about this? Any suggestions? Thanks! Anything will help.

You can precompose all the layers. That will keep all the layers inside one. It should be helpful to apply the transition.
