Hi all! Recenty I've been working on a simple animation for an illustrated character that I've made in Illustrator. I've created multiple variations for the same character (different skintone, hairstyle, and t-shirt) and I'm trying to find a way to create an animation for all variations, using the puppet pin tool to animate an arm, a leg, and the head.

I've tried to parent whip the positions of puppet pins of the variations to a "base" variation, but it seems impossible to place a puppet pin on the exact same spot in different layers.

What is the best and/or easiest way to "bulk animate" a set of different character variations?

Put all characters in the same pre-comp, use that as a master layer in the parent comp to create an all-encompassing consistent mesh with identical pin placement, duplicate the rsulting comp and pre-comps as needed and toggle the layer visibilities/ replace the content in the pre-comp.
