If I have a arabic text in word and want to transfer this to a text layer in Ae, how do I do this? I tried copy/paste but it looked lika a mess.

I'm not a user of AfterEffects. I just copied Arabic text from MS. Word and paste it in Ae, it showed fine and as expected.

I use a Mac, the following are Ae settings…

  • Preferences > Type, select "South Asian and Middle Eastern"
  • Used Type tool to type on the composition screen and had to use an Arabic font.

AE does not support the full Unicode/ OpenType specs, so this is pretty much never going to work. At the very least you would have to install AE in a supported language and enable the Middle East text composer in ther prefs, but even then some ligatures and glyph substitutions won't carry over. That's why even after all these years you still have to use graphics unless you are actually working on an Arabic system.

Thanx Mylenium. I have changed type preferences to middle eastern  and also installed arabic as a language in windows, also installed a arabic font but still it looks like blobs. I have made an image that I can import but then I can not do Bewel Edges etc. so its not optimal...

But it is a possibility anyway. I saw a tutorial on youtube where they used an arabic font, it looked easy but maybe she had installed Ae in arabic version?

I include a screenshot of the blobs.

Can I make this in premiere pro? Or is there some other software where I can make bevel edges on arabic and chinese text so I can make an image?
