Audio in After Effects not working

Question

Latest AE. Audio works on an empty sequence, then as soon as you add up effects, it stops playing.

If I create a new empty sequence, and then paste audio there, within the same project, it plays again.

Even if you give it time to render, it would play a first milisecond of audio and then go silent again while the image keeps playing.

All the Audio playback features are enabled. All the audio hardware configurations are correct. Tried rebooting.

Nothing seems to help.

Without any info about your system, the audio files, exact settings everywhere and so on this isn't going anywhere. This does not at all sound like it would be an AE issue, or else the forum would be full of similar reports. To me it looks more like your audio device is for some odd reason bombing out, so it could be a matter of specific circumstances causing this. in the past this has often been reported with external audio controllers/ mixing boards for instance.
