Audio waveform causing After Effects to become choppy and slow

Ive come across this problem where everytime I open the audio waveform for a layer it will cause my entire composition to become slow and choppy no matter what im trying to do (opening more will cause the problem to increase). No matter how much or little is in my composition it'll cause my movements to be slow and choppy. Ive tried using different audios and compositions but the same thing happens.

would appreciate any help! Thanks.

Thanks for writing in.

Is it happening with a particular file type?

Go to After Effects Preferences > Display > uncheck "Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels". If it doesn't help, try clearing the media cache.

Issue doesn't seem to be attached to the file type. I unchecked the "Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels" and cleared my media cache but there were no changes.
