Automatically Pack Resource Files in After Effects

Explorer ,
Jul 01, 2023 Jul 01, 2023

Important Note:

(Users of Blender 3D, have an option/feature to Automatically Pack Resources, so that when there's a change of File Location or images and textures, they are already saved/embedded in the blend file)

I completed a Project on a PC with After Effects 2019 version. I sent that Project to another PC holding 2021 version. On opening the File in the 2021 version, it gave a warning that Some files are missing.

Is there an option or a way to pack my resources so that even if I change location of my .aep file, the resources are already embedded?

Probably the best option is Collecting files. Go to File > Dependencies > Collect Files. This can create a new project and copies of your files in a completely new location.

While working in After Effects, I mirror a common approach to working with InDesign.  Create a folder for the entire project, saving the After Effects project to the root level of that folder.  Place all source footage into a sub-folder (for InDesign, it would be called "Links", but I prefer to use "Source Footage" for After Effects) before importing it into the After Effects project.  If this is made habit, moving and entire project is just moving the project folder.
