Question

Bar Graph lines change brightness depending on size

Hi,

I am designing a bar graph for Monthly S&P 500 returns from 1926 to 2019. Unfortunately, as I enter the data the bars that are the smaller data points become almost translucent or very dim in color. Is there a solution for this. I have attached images for reference.

Best,

You need to be much more specific on how the graph is actually constructed/ which template it uses. AE has no native charting tools. Your screenshots simply look like it's using a ton of thin shape layer elements, but not in a very clever way and of course depending on their actual width the antialiasing may affect the perception of thickness and opacity as may sub-pixel placement. This is really a design issue and has nothing to do with AE per-se, but without some actual info nobody can advise where to look to fix it.

Thanks!

So this is a 1920x1080 composition. Below are my composition settings:

I had to go with very think shape layers because I need to fit 1,114 bars on this graph. Each of these layers is attached to a separate controller which I can punch a value in to. Originally I the pixel width of these solids set to 5px. I have been going in and manually adjusting the pixel width of these charts to make sure they are more visible. The bars with small values such as 0.45, or -1.11were almost transparent. I went in and increased the pixel width manually to make them more apparent. Is there a better way for me to do this?
