Black frames when scrubbing after 18.4.0 update

Again after the surprise update during the night there's issues.

Now I can't scrub through un-cached comps. Every frame flickers to black. Which makes it almost impossible to work. It was fine before the update.

Is my graphics card now no longer compatible? Or what's the issue?

Mac OS 10.15.7

iMac Late 2013

3.2GHz Quad core intel i5

24GB 1600 DDR3

SSD

Nvidia GeForce GT 755M 1GB

Wacom Cintiq Pro 24

Hi Gerhard_Draws,

Sorry for your issue.

Is it happening with the projects that has only Text, Solid and Shape layers (no media)?

Could you try:

  1. Clearing the media cache.
  2. Go to After Effects Preferences > Dispaly > Disable "Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels".

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Thanks for the response @nishu_kush and @Mohammad.Harb

To answer your questions: No it was a mixture of text, vectors and footage (cel animation frames as .png sequences)

But emptying the cache seems to have worked. I'm keeping an eye on it but it does seem to be back to normal now.

Let's hope that clears it up 🙂

OK scratch that... it's back to doing the black frame thing. Tried flushing the cache now a few times and it's still doing it. Uuuuggggg and I have a deadline today
