Broken dropdown menus - After Effects 18.4.1

The dropdown menus for shapes, text etc. in the toolbar doesn't seem to work correctly.

When I click the shapes icon, I don't get a list of shapes to choose from (right clicking does nothing).

I am working on Windows 10.

Thats's right, the correct way is to hold down the button with a sustained click when you have the little triangle in the lower right.
