Hello,

I am trying to get into after effects and I purchased these call out template that I want to use on one of my videos. I am lost on how to use call outs from after effects to adobe premiere. Do I need to edit the video etc in Premiere first then somehow get it over to after effects to add the call out and place them where I want it? Very lost and trying to find a video on YouTube on how to do this but no luck.

Unfortunately, there are no had and fast answers.   In general, it's good practice to do the following:

    • Edit video in Premiere Pro, making sure you get everything right -- especially the timings you have to hit to accommodate that template.
    • In AE, use Dynamic Link to open the PP sequence.
    • Use the sequence in the template just like other video.
    • Use AE or Adobe Media Encoder to export your work in a media container & codec appropriate for the next application that will use your work.

Notice I said "in general".  The demands of the total project may demand another workflow, and that's knowledge that comes with experience.

I have not tried it yet still need a lot of learning to figure this out. If you need to mark it as complete then you can. I might try Filmora. They have easy templates that you can just add then just move them around.

Sorry about that, Blando. After Effects templates can be hard to figure out sometimes. If you keep at it, though, it can pay off down the road. Best of luck.

    Thanks,

    A few things to know:

    • Simple possession of a template does NOT guarantee AE success, especially for beginners.  Template makers assume at least an intermediate AE knowledge.
    • AE has its own arcane terminology, and you aren't using it... which implies you're a beginner.
    • AE is devilishly hard to learn -- you need to know the basics before you can get to the fun stuff.  You blow off the basics at your peril.  And there are no shortcuts even if you're on a deadline.  There are no, "Can't you just give me a step-by-step explanation how to do this?" scenarios for AE.  So iIf you are on a deadline, tough luck, Chuck.
    • Cherry-picking AE tutorials off YouTube is a recipe for disaster.  There are too many high school kids making tutorials, and few of them can find their posterior in the dark using both hands, AE-wise.

Given all that, I conclude the best place for you at the moment is here:

Learn from the pros.  Not some lame high school kid.

No i completely agree and will be checking more of these tutorials out for sure tonight. I am just lost on the video. Do you edit the video first from adobe and then open it under effects or do you edit everything under effects. Thats where i am trying to get an understanding of.

Please post a link to the template you downloaded.

Adjust the call out the way you want it and then export it to a lossless format to use in Premiere Pro.

Then edit the video in Premiere Pro.

If you don't know how to edit the call out and a tutorial is not included with the template (or one is included and you don't understand it), then you need to learn at least the basics of AE from Dave's link.
