I can't seem to find the plug ins folder under the After Effects CC 2020 file. I have checked hidden fileand still the only things that show up are:

User Libraries

User Presets

Video Libraries

Has anyone else experienced this

I've found two paths (default installation location):

1. Script file with (.aex) extension.

  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2020\Support Files\Plug-ins

2. Script file with (.jsx) extension.

  • C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects 2020\Support Files\Scripts\ScriptUI Panels

Note: also, available help file "About the ScriptUI Panels folder.txt"

Scripts in the ScriptUI Panels folder are designed with user interfaces that appear in a dockable panel, which allows them to be placed in any workspace and opened each time the application is launched. These scripts are accessed at the bottom of the application's Window menu.

Existing scripts that use a palette or window for their main user interface need to be adapted for use in a dockable panel; see the After Effects scripting documentation for details). Scripts that use dialog boxes are not as easily adapted.

You can add your own scripts to the ScriptUI Panels folder.

Yes, you're looking in your Documents folder.  The plugins folder is in the main intall folder, as Rick said.

The default plugins are located in the Plugins folder in the same folder that contains the AE app. It is not hidden.

Some 3rd party plug-ins are installed in the Library>Application Support>Adobe>Common>Plugins folder. A folder search for .plugin should also find the AE plugins and show you the folder.
