Can't get "Emerge" Preset to work on text without getting the edge colour

HI!

I want to make my title emerge from the background without getting a black edge on the text. I've used the "emerge" effect, and it looks great if I use it on a black background. But I want my title emerge from the image I'm using. Can anyone tell me how ai can do this without getting a wierd black edge

Emerge works by adding a StrokeWidth animator. When the offset value gets to zero you should have no stroke left. 

 

You have a couple of options. If you want a solid color just change the stroke color to match the background. 

 

If you have an image or footage as a background you'll have to change the stroke color to something that will easily key out. Just change it to Green and use Keylight. 

 

If neither of those suggestions work please include a screenshot showing us all the modified properties of the layers. Just press uu and post the screenshot.
