Can't see my compositon window (on Mac)

Hi, I did a clean install of Mac OS Catalina.
In the past few days and mostly after waking up the computer I see that the Creative Suite app has hung up (Your apps are taking longer than usual to load. Relaunch Cretaive Cloud or restart your computer and try again). I always had to restart the computer.

Today I open After Effects for the first time after clean install and I don't see any composition. There is only a black area.

BUT it works on my Macbook (also with Catalina). There I see the composition.
Tried a lot, but doesn't work.
Now I have uninstalled the complete suite from the iMac and reinstalled it.
No way, I don't see the composition in After Effects.

Need help please.

Thanks

Jorg

Correct answer PaulScheepers

I can confirm the Promise Utility is causing the problem. Removed it and everything was OK!

Thanks Joerg

Joerg,

How did you discover that it was the "Promise Utlity"?

I am having the same issue here.

thanks

Joe

Hey Joe,

The whole thing cost me several days of trial and error. I also used EntreCheck, which gave me the last clue.

Then it occurred to me that I hadn't installed Promise Utility on the Macbook. Because everything went well on the Macbook.

And after I uninstalled the Promise Utility on the iMac, it went very well on the iMac. Everything is still going today.

Hope this helps.

Joerg

Hello everyone,

I would like to inform you that I was able to solve the problem. It is software that caused the problems. It was the "Promise Utility" from my external raid system. After uninstalling the tool, all services and programs were running properly again.

The only strange thing is that this program can switch off the GPU in After Effects. Or prevents the server connection from Adobe and Microsoft. Or does not let the Mamp Pro SQL Server start.

These are the mysteries.

Thanks,

Jorg

Hi Joerg,

Sorry for your issue with After Effects interface. Could you try navigating to After Effects Preferences > Display and uncheck the Hardware Accelerate Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels and see if it helps with the issue?

Let us know, we're here to help.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi Nishu,

No, it doesn't help with the issue.

Thanks

Jorg

Did you tried going to menu Window/Workspace/Reset "Xxxxxx" to Saved Layout?

Byron.

Yes, but that doesn't help.
