I think you'll have to precomp your comp and either use the Speed controls or Time Remapping to play it in reverse.  

 

Rapidly tapping Page Up will go backwards one frame at a time.

Yes, you can time remap to make it playbackwards if that's what you want.

Speaking of "J", it's actually naviagting between the keyframes (backward) in After Effects 😉

No, there is no backward playback in After Effects as far as I'm aware...

No, pretty sure you can not. You can go back 10 frames by hitting Ctrl + Shift + Left.

Yes because that's an AE shortcut. To answer your question, no, there is no backward playback function in AE.
