Cannot use 24 fps instead of 30 fps for image sequence

Only used AE for a few days. I have an image sequence of 500 images so its 20 seconds at 24 FPS.

The thing is it always imports at 30 fps so only displays 16 seconds. I have created new comp etc at 24 fps but just cannot get past the 30 fps.... even when you drag the 500 images to a 24 fps comp it wont work.

I have a composition Main and just want the image sequence in a layer - should be straight forward

Even importing images of 500 it defaults to 30 fps......... dont get it. I simply want the 500 images not a locked fps of 30.......

any idea why i cannot chnage the comp length? it just goes back to default every time.......

If you double-click on the comp duration to select all the numbers and type 1000, the new comp length will be 10 seconds and zero frames. You can type in hours, minutes, seconds, and frames when the Time is set to Timecode, or you can just type in 100 to get 1 second and zero frames or 1000 to get 10 seconds and zero frames, or 31520 to get 3 minutes 15 seconds and 10 frames. The new comp duration will always have hours, minutes, seconds, and frames; if you don't have seven digits in the panel, zeros will be added to the front, not the back. That's why you get 10 frames instead of 10 seconds.

Sorted thanks. Another quicky... i want a snow effect simulation above other stuff on top layer but can only use it on solid layer so it covers everything.... any ideas, thanks

Select the footage in the Project panel. Go to File/Interpret Footage. Set the frame rate to 24.

If all image sequences you want to import need to be at 24 fps, you can press Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd + ; to open preferences, go to the Import section and set the default for image sequences to 24.
