Change Roto Brush Transparency Background

I'm using Adobe After Effects v 23.4 on Windows 10.

I have a .mov file with transparency alphas that I'm trying to roto brush currently.  However, the file has elements of black, and they blend into the black background roto brush automatically slaps on transparent files.  This makes it hard to see if roto brush is detecting everything I want it to detect.

I know you can change the background color of compositions in Composition Settings, but this doesn't do anything to change the black background roto brush slaps on transparent files in the layer edit window.  Switching the roto brush mode from Alpha/Alpha Boundary/Alpha Overlay doesn't help with visibility for this file.  Is there a way to change the background color in rotobrush?

You can enable the transparency grid in the Layer panel. You can also view the Matte rather than just the outline in the Laayer/Rotobrush panel by selecting the toggle overlay option. You can also create your own masks, pre-compose moving all attributes, then run Rotobrush on the cleaned-up footage. I almost always do that to eliminate background elements that may interfere with Rotobrush.

Rotobrush can be helpful, but it requires careful planning and shooting, but it's not Magic; it's just a tool that can be useful, and it can speed up some of the work of removing backgrounds or isolating elements. Rotobrush is seldom the only tool I use on a shot.
