Question

Color Finesse with CS3

I have Master Collection CS3. I was recently made aware of the activation server getting shut down for CS3 products. I had no issues with the Adobe master collection serial and no issues with the On Location serial, but the Color Finesse serial failed.

Is that supposed to happen?

Does color Finesse not have the same activation issues as Abobe CS3?

Will I be OK when I install on a different computer?

I went to synthetic Aperture's website and it had this note:

Important Note: All support for the bundled version of Color Finesse is handled by Adobe Technical Support, not by Synthetic Aperture Tech Support.

Thanks for any input. Adobe support though chat decided it was easier to dump me here than to answer my concern

Color Finesse does not use Adobe's activation servers, and you can still activate it with serial number on the CS3 DVD case.

If you are using the version of Color Finesse installed with CS3 (which is Color Finesse 2.0 as I recall), then the Color Finesse serial number on the DVD case (it's a sticker) should install without error. That version is old, so we can't guarantee that it will work under a modern OS. As I recall Win7 SP1 broke it.

Better is to use the installer downloaded from our website in the Legacy Versions Downloads section. Make sure you download the CS3 installer, as there are a bunch of version-specific installers. Doing it this way will ensure that you get the final version of Color Finesse 2.x (v2.1.12). This will work better on Windows 7 than the bundled version. Neither version will work properly on Win 8.x and Win 10.

What won't work is downloading the Color Finesse 3 installer and trying to use the Color Finesse 2.1 serial number on the CS3 box. You need a Color Finesse 3 serial number, as included in CS5 and later.

Thank you. I thought that might be the case, but adobe help through chat would not answer any of my questions to satisfaction. It seemed like just a waiste of time, which does not fill me with confidence for help with newer versions.
