I'm working on a compositing shot, I first exported a transparent .png sequence from Blender and composited it on top of the footage in Premiere, but then I wanted some advanced effects so I switched to AE but it seems the shadows are way darker than what I get in Blender's compositor and Premiere. Here's a comparison: Blender, Premiere, AE
Notice that only the shadow is different, the blacks are not lifted (cylinder's inside). I suspect it has something to do with the alpha channel since the shadow is a semi transparent region but I haven't found any setting that could help.
Any insight would be appreciated!
I would guess the cause is related to the color space or gamma setting. You move File menu > Project Settings > Color Tab. You choose the proper Working Space. You also turn on Blend Colors Using 1.0 Gamma if necessary.

Blend Colors Using 1.0 Gamma did it, thanks.

Could be anything from that old premultiplied vs. unmultiplied Alpha thing to the linear color space in Blender to the very obvious complete absence of color management. As suggested, start by checking your project color settings and footage interpretation. anything more would require proper technical details, anyway.
