Comp/Preview window delayed & updates only after moving the cursor [AE 23.1 on Apple M1 Pro/32GB]

I noticed a somewhat strange behaviour in AE 23.1 on my new Macbook Pro (Apple M1 Pro 10/16, 32 GB).

The preview (i.e. comp) window is sometimes lagging after I update layer settings, fx options, etc.

I first noticed this issue yesterday when I was trying the CC Bubbles filter on a fill layer in a very basic comp (bg layer + fill layer with fx): after changing the shading type a couple of times, the preview window wouldn't update until I started moving the cursor again/moving the cursor over the preview window. This also happened when performing some other actions, like adding a new fill layer, which wasn't visible right away, either.

I just tried to recreate this behaviour after a clean install of 23.1, and it is still there. Most of the times, the changes are applied to the preview immediately, but sometimes they are severely lagging: e.g. after changing blending mode of CC Bubbles two or three times, the preview would just stop updating. Only when I move the cursor over the preview window (and the preview window only), the updates would be applied. At the same time, everything was already pre-rendered according to AE (green bar over the timeline).

This seems odd since 1) overall performance is very good and 2) I don't have any playback issues whatsoever. Moreover, 3) AE 22.6, which I used up to this point for daily business on Apple Silicone, never had trouble updating the preview window, unless it was workload related of course.

Any ideas?
