Question

Constant crashing with no explination

So I recently rebuilt my work computer ( I do video editing ) and I have not been able to get after effects to stop crashing a few minutes into each project. Also when it crashes its almost as if it clears the save from the "recent projects" home page that pops up.

System:

CPU: I9-13900K

Graphics Card: Asus Strix 1060 6GB

Ram: Corsair Vengence 64GB

Samsung 1TB NVME as my main drive.

Tried just about every setting in the multitude of troubleshooting guides. Nothing has worked, the only thing I can look for now is for someone to analyze the crash dmp file. Please if anyone else is having this issue and got it resolved let me know of a way I can try something new.

This could be a hardware problem but it doesnt point to that as my computer isn't crashing with any other application. And yes I have re-installed multiple times and that did not work either.

basically just get into your bios setting and set the SVID Behaviours to Intel's Fail safe and all the crash have gone.

Hey Justin, are you still experiencing crashing? I and some others on this forum are dealing with this too. I think it is based on hardware.

It is interesting to see many of us have some combination of i9 13900/14900k CPU's, Corsair memory and a Z790 motherboard. What board do you have?

check out my comment below man, seems like i9 13900k and 14900k are having some bios issues.

If you use some old third party plug-ins, you try to turn off the option of "Enable Multi-Frame Rendering" in preferences setting?

Hello, I uninstalled the OBS app and tried exporting and it still wont work. It crashes when trying to export but every once in awhile it might complete the export but 9/10 times it will crash.

Thanks for giving that a try. Could you share the rest of the details so we can diagnose the issue properly?

Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hey Justin,

I'm sorry to hear about this. I have moved this thread to the discussions section for troubleshooting. Please share your dump file here. Do you see any error codes or messages? Is there anything specific that causes After Effects to crash, or is it random? Please check if there are any Studio Driver updates available for your GPU. Also, please share your current After Effects version. We're here to help.

Thanks,

Ishan

It says I cant attach the .dmp file. I spent 8 hours on remote desktop support with adobe and after the following steps we have not seen any improvment. ( Also I already updated to latest version of bios a week ago )

- Updating all graphics drivers

- Changing Multi Frame Rendering

- Power settings regaurding After Effects

- Fresh installation of windows

- Installing and uninstalling on different versions of after effects

- Installing and uninstalling the only plugin or extension I have, Motion Bro 4.0

Last night I ran memtest86 and it passed with 100% no errors. Im trying different monitors and graphics cards

The only think I can narrow it down to seems like its either a corrupted hard drive or the motherboard, Ive seen on reddit that alot of people have these random problems with thier gigabyte motherboards. I have always used ASUS and I just wonder if it could be that.

Here is the most recent crash, only a minute after launching. I dragged the sizing of the pannels and it left theses glitchy looking lines and then crashed. Does this help?
