Could not launch Adobe Analysis Server 515 - AE 2023 Mac

Mac Studio 2023 Apple M2 Ultra 192GB ram Mac OS Ventura 13.5 running AE2023 23.6

Getting this error when trying to run camera tracker.

First error is "Unkown Exception"

followed by "After Effects error: Could not launch Adobe Analysis Server. (515) ( 25 :: 101 )

I've seen this posted before but on older versions of AE. Most solutions reference steps to take on a PC, not on a mac.  Other solutions also seem to indicate virus software, of which I do not have.

Based on previous errors with camera tracking and "dynamic link" I'm guessing this has something to do with a plugin, but hard to pinpoint that.  Hopeful for any other feedback or ideas.

I solved the issue: I went to AE Settings/Startup & Repair >> Refeal Preferences in Finder. I moved the .pref and txt Files to Desktop and deleted the ones in the preference folder. When I started AE I did not migrate from previous versions. This solved the issue. (If i did migrate from previous AE Versions the issue presited). Thanks

Hi there, im having the same issue on 2 machines running macOs Ventura on M1 Max. I also disabled all Effects without success. Did you find a solution to the issue or still doing the workaround? Thanks

I do not have keen tools installed but I am aware that was a problem with
the camera tracker previously. This issue and error code is different than
the one that would pop up from the keen tools problem.

@Kaci32292255vdo6 It's very likely you've got a third-party plugin installed that is not compatible with the 3D camera tracker process. One that has been seen multiple times is Keen Tools. We are working on making this better but in the meantime, the best advice I can give is to remove third-party plugins, one at a time, until you find the one causing the issue.

I am having this same issue when I try to use the camera tracker and the warp stabilizer effect. I'm on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra running version 12.6.8.

I tried launching the Adobe Analysis Server manually, but the only file I can find with this name is a folder and there is no launchable file within that folder; just two .txt files and an empty logs folder. Everyonce in a while shutting everything down and rebooting works, but I've tried this multiple times today and nothing seems to be working.

disabled everything - same issue persists.

Assuming you are running 23.6, you can go into the Effect Manager inside AE (Effects Menu -> Manage Effects) and disable all third-party effects in that dialog. Restart AE and then try the camera tracking again.

This did not work. I moved everything out of that folder and the error persisted. I just started getting this on my 2023 M2 Macbook Pro as well, so it still seems likely it's a plugin.  Where else can I remove files from to continue testing this?  Currently my workaround is to kill all adobe processes with activity monitor, create a new project, then bring the footage in and track the camera in the new project, at which point it will work. Then I import the tracked footage project into my main project.  At least I can get it to work somehow and this isn't the most painful workaround I've had to deal with.

Hey there,

Man, AE errors can be such a pain sometimes, right? I remember encountering a similar issue with the camera tracker a while back on my Mac.

A couple of things you might want to try:
Permissions: Sometimes the issue arises from After Effects not having the necessary permissions. Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy Tab. Make sure After Effects and any related Adobe apps have access to whatever they need, especially under "Files and Folders" and "Full Disk Access".
Adobe Analysis Server: There's a chance the server isn’t starting correctly. Navigate to your After Effects folder and look for 'Adobe Analysis Server' (It should be inside the directory where AE is installed). Try launching it manually. If it throws an error, that might give you more info.
Reinstallation: I know it sounds cliché, but sometimes a fresh install does the trick. If you decide to go down this route, ensure you back up any custom presets, scripts, or any third-party plugins you might have installed.
Cache & Preferences Reset: Hold down Command+Option+Shift when starting AE to reset the preferences. This will often clear up many issues. And don't forget to clear your cache too!

Hope any of these help. Let us know how it goes or if you find another solution!

Cheers,
Ahmad

Yes, likely to do with plugins. Navigate to /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore, and move those plugins to somewhere else (e.g. your desktop) so they aren't loaded by AE during camera tracking/dynamic link. If that works, return one plugin at a time until you find the offending one.
