Hi Ehab Mouris,

Sorry to hear that you're running into this issue. We need more details to help you.

The next time you launch After Effects, go to Help > Enable Logging before you start working on the project. We can then inspect the log files to see if that leads us to the source of the problem.

Thanks,

Rameez

Hi Rameez,

Thanks for your reply, please check:

- Drive 😧 is SSD

- After Effect version:  18.4.0 (Build 41)

GeForce RTX is the series - check the attached image

And I will check Enable Logging

Thanks,

Ehab

Does this happen with all compositions or is it one in particular?  If it's one, what effects are you using, could it be something that's taxing and doesn't use AE's cache in the usual way?

It happened with any project I open, it just played a few times and and after that the play button does not work even I close the project and open a new one.

Overriding app-controlled settings is generally not advisable. Enforcing the antialiasing alone could consume a ton of resources and freeze the redraw. Other than that you may want to lower the disk cache size significantly. It'S quite possible AE is simply caching way too much and then not refreshing. Other than that I can't see much, but of course keep experimenting with settings. I know it's frustrating, but there's really no "push this button" solution. On that note you may want to try GPU-Z or the NVidia debug tools. Perhaps they can at least provide some clues about what may be the issue.

Do suggest to reset AE setting? if so could you tell me how to do it?

The werried thing here is it play perfectly once I open any project and after a few minutes of working it stop preview and the play button does not work. The only solution is to rebot the program. This is so annoying and I have work to do and dead line to deliver my work.

The answer is pretty much the same boring obvious thing: Something is wrong with your hardware acceleration in that the graphics buffers fill up and don't refresh after a while. You may need to spend some time figuring out your graphics driver configuration. Realyl not much more than that to say and no easy answers. However, if it doesn't cause crashes or otherwise negatively affects your AE work, I wouldn't worry too much. Perhaps it even works when you regularly flush the RAM preview and other caches from the edit menu or occasionally build a RAM preview instead of just always using a realtime preview.

Thanks Mylenium for your answer. But believe me I always delete all the cached files before I start the application I even changed the default path for cache files form partition C: to other one to avoid the crash. Regarding my graphics driver configuration, I do not know exactly how to figure it out! I tried once to change the setting in Nvidia control panel but the same problem still exists!!!
