Do you even test your software?

I've been using after effects professionally for 6 years. With every update it becomes more and more buggy, with random error messages, freezes, crashes. often when doing something as simple as scrubbing the timeline or scrolling to zoom in and out. Shape layers seem to produce the most issues, but it's almost across the board.

Doesn't matter which setup i'm using, mac OS apple silicon, intel, windows 10, windows 11, high end hardware, or low end.

It's an absolute joke that you can't implement software testing. I read forums of people reporting bugs that you "can't reproduce". how about giving it a red hot go instead of resting on your laurels for 25 years.

WE ARE ALL SICK OF THIS.

Yeah, AE CC 2022 plain and simple sucks. And it's not that we're not going through those pains with every new release. QA and Beta testers are simply not doing their job. Providing some crash logs might be a good start, but generally, unless the devs get their lazy butts up I'm afraid nobody will be able to provide you with a satisfying solution beyond the boring and repetitive "Fix your graphics driver, check this and that." advice.

Ups and downs, yes. More and more unstable, i don't think so. Rule of thumb: don't upgrade before the 2nd or 3rd bugfix release within a major AE version.

I totally get your frustration with software issues, especially when you're using a tool as vital as After Effects for your professional work. Bugs and glitches can be incredibly disruptive and impact productivity. It's essential for software developers to ensure thorough testing to provide users with a smooth experience.
By the way, if you're interested in software testing solutions, you might want to check out zaptest.com. They offer testing tools that could potentially help streamline the testing process and improve software reliability. It's always good to explore options that might make your workflow smoother and more efficient.

@Mylenium @Luke Free

I have to say, I love Multi-frame Rendering.  Sure, it was a bit of a hassle to make sure all of my third-party plugins were up-to-date for MFR, but well worth it for render times to drop by about 50% on two of the workstations I use.  Also, I've found the under-the-hood changes made in the last 6 years for performance to be excellent.  I never would have expected to be able to have a Preview running in a downstream Comp in one viewer while making adjustments to layers in a nested, upstream Comp in another.  And my favorite change?  Being able to open the same project file in any version of AE from 2019 up.  If 2021 is crashing due to different sized Comps being used with Mercury Transmit, use 2020 while you figure out what's going on.

Shall we start with where to find the crash logs?
