Bonjour,

Hello,

I'm having a problem with Adobe After effect. When I create a composition with a background (pink for example), in the preview there is just a black background that takes the whole size of this window. I don't understand, I didn't do anything and even installing and reinstalling nothing changes. I don't have the Shift key pressed etc.

I am under Windows 10 - Adobe After Effect CC 2020 1.7.1.1 (buil 34).

Thank you in advance for your help ...

Hello, I just had the same problem and indeed it seems to be GPU related. I was still under After Effects 23.1 and decided to upgrade it to the most recent version (25.1).
When I opened my project again the problem seemed to be still there, but after waiting a few seconds I got a charging popup telling approximately that the project is loading after "GPU change" or "pilots update". After that loading my composition appeared again!

So consider updating your After Effects version and why not updating your pilots/drivers.

Hi David,

Welcome to the Community and sorry for your issue.

Is it happening in a particular project or of them? Please check if the Composition panel is still active. Also, what are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM)?

In the meantime, try resetting the preferences of After Effects: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-p/10634342?page=1

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Hi, nishu_kush,
It doesn't matter what the project is, even when I have to create a brand new one. I've done the manipulation you suggested, but it still doesn't work.

Here's the information :

Thanks for sharing the details.

It could be related to GPU. Please try the this: Go to Edit > Preferences > Display > and uncheck Hardware Accelerated Composition, Layer, and Footage Panels.
Let us know the outcome.

Thanks,
Nishu
