Edit Clip in AE while keeping Premiere Pro effects

(NOTE: This issue happens no matter what effect I use from PP).

I'm using the Ultra Key effect in PP because it works much better for me than AE's green screen key effects. Once I tweak the keying in PP to a satisfactory amount, I select the option "Replace With After Effects Composition" to take the clip to AE to add AE effects. Problem is none of my PP effects carry over to AE so it's all undone.

 

How do I keep the result of the PP effects into an AE composition?

 

I was thinking to just export the clip with PP effects, then take it into AE, but not only do I lose some quality no matter how high the quality I export to, but it takes up a ton of space (these are all 4K clips, some at 60fps). And if I need to tweak or add any PP effects later on, I have to re-export and start from scratch in AE depending on how drastic the change is to the orginal PP clip. So I'll only use this method as a last resort. Please tell me there's another way?

It is not possible. You'll have to render the clip with the alpha channel. None of the Premiere Pro effects will move over to After Effects because the software engine for effects in Premiere Pro is completely different than it is in After Effects.

 

I can get good or better results in AE with Keylight by following all the steps to generate a good matte. If garbage masks are necessary, they are easier to create in After Effects, especially if the subject is moving. Most of my keying work in After Effects has almost all of the Screen Matte parameters (there are 8 of them) adjusted, Foreground and Edge color correction enabled and adjusted, and almost always, there is a little Color Balancing. I also create light wraps. The workflow is pretty easy if you start by looking at the Status view and the Combined Matte and check the white and black areas of the matte using the move tool (v) and the Info Panel set to Float colors.
