Hi!

I'm exporting a project with the dimensions of 1920 by 1080. I'm exporting the file as h.264 and the dimension as 1080p and for some reason when I export it the file has morphed and become stretched. What am I doing wrong

You probably customized the composition settings and changed the pixel aspect ratio to Non-Square Pixels. Open up the comp settings and fix the problem by making sure that 1920 X 1080 comps are Square Pixels.

Until you have expertise in video formats and compression you should be using the standard presets for your projects.

See the word custom? That is your first clue that there might be something wrong. The second clue is that you have chosen a non-square pixel aspect ratio.

DVC pro HD was an old video format and the only reason to ever use that would be if you were to render your footage to put it back on one of those ancient DVC pro video tapes. You can't buy that equipment anymore, and even when it was a viable format, you're working composition should all have been the square pixel equivalent of that frame size.

Change to square pixels and you will be fine. Do a little homework on video formats. You should know these things.

Without exact settings and for that matter all the other stuff like system information, which tool you are viewing your output with and so on we can't tell you much. For all we know, this could simply be an issue with your player software or screen configuration.
