Fails at 00 to Render H.642 Quicktime

Hi there.

I'm decently new to AE, about a week into it and have finally finished my first video. However, whenever I try to export it it goes for anywhere form 13-18 seconds before failing at 00.

I have a MacBook air with 16gb and am using the latest version of AE

When I try to export it and it fails it gives no error message. I've cleared all my caches and have PLENTY of space on my disk. My settings are quicktime (.mov), H.264, Res 760. I've tried adobe media encoder and the same thing happened. I'm at my wits end and have no idea what to do.

On the clip I have Force motion blur,  radial blur, brightness, motion title, scale and rotation, Wiggle (position), and ripple.

Getting closer... My next move would be: disable all layers in the offending comp. Only enable the bottom one. See if it renders. If so, enable the next layer. And so on. Until you come across the offending layer.

I had this happened once using a stock footage clip which was corrupt in some way. I got around it by rendering the footage out as an image sequence and reimporting it to replace the original layer.

Hi jasiraG

When you clic in a start button of AE press Shft + Alt + Ctrl if you are in a Windows computer or Shft + Alt + Cmd in Mac. By doing this, you will reset all preferences first and then diagnose from there.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. When I start rendering or in the project or?

When you open After Effects application. Clic, and immediately press the keys that I tell you in my previous answer.

OK, at least it narrows down the problem. Could you create a new comp, drop in a solid layer - nothing else - and try to render that? If that renders correctly, the problem lies within your comp (source clips, effects, ...).

Also, by any chance, did you use Knoll Light Factory with motion blur on the layer? It takes aaaaaaaaages to render. Just checking.

It rendered out just fine. And no. On the clips I have Force motion blur,  radial blur, brightness, motion title, scale and rotation, Wiggle (position), and ripple, as well as a custom shake.

Hi,

as troubleshooting measure, could you render the comp to an image sequence in stead of an mp4 or quicktime? If that fails, the problem is somewhere in your comp. If that works, the problem is in your mp4 output settings.  After you figured that out, we'll go from there.

What happens if you render out a QT from AE using ProRes, then use AME to transcode the QT?

It says in AE that it failed at 00, and exports a clip, but it's the original clip with no effects.

There's a good reason -- you should NOT be making Quicktime movies in H.264.  It's a technological dead end.

Instead, use Adobe Media Encoder to make an mp4 file in H.264.

I did that, but it just stays like this then fails a bit later, it never actually exports,
