first point of pen tool won't snap to grid

I'm experiencing this annoying issue where the first point of the pen tool won't snap to the grid, after I place the first point all following points will snap to the grid. Is this some bug or an annoying default that i don't know how to switch off? This issue has existed in multiple versions of AE.
