Question

Flicker and dropouts if the framerate isnt 100% correct

I ask this because I just bought a new computer and I didnt have this problem at all with my old one.

When I import videos in AE and they are not exactly the same framerate I get flickers and dropouts in the video. This never happened before. Sure I know framerate is important but I use a lot of free materials ripped from youtube, mostly greenscreen.

What happen now and never happened before is that I get blinks and dropouts. Frames that are conpletely blank now and then.

Is it a setting in after effects? As I never experienced this before it must be something I do worng but I cant for the life of myself get why?

Hi ocwolf,

Thanks for writing in.

What's the exact version of After Effects and your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)? Usually, it happens when you're using working with the variable frame rate footage. If that's the case, try transcoding the footage using Hand Brake or any other similar app.

Let us know if that helps.

Thanks,

Nishu

Thanx for your reply.

I use Topaz video enhancer to change the framerate and when I do it works.

Just curious why my new computer work different than my old one. I didnt have this issue back then.

My specs are...

OS - Windows 11

Cpu - Intel Core i9 3,2GHz 30MB

Motherboard - MSI PRO Z690-A

Gpu - ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 12GB ROG STRIX

Memory - Corsair 2x32GB DDR4 3200MHz

After Effects 22.5.0 (build53)
