Question

Font won't work in After Effects

I recently upgraded to Adobe After Effects CC 2018. Suddenly my companies main font will not work in after effects... but it works in all of the other Adobe programs I use during the day (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. I've tried checking for duplicate fonts/errors in the font book. I've restarted multiple times. Help!

It's a PostScript typeface, right?  The April update broke AE access to selected PostScript typefaces.

Now, you could get the same front in TruType, but that would be silly.   So the only sure-fire fix is to revert your CC applications to the ones you used BEFORE the April update.

Now, I have to tell you -- I just read that there's a bug fix out -- AE 15.1.1 -- and an an Adobe employee claims it solves the PostScript conundrum.  Not two minutes later, I read a report saying that this bug fix solves problems on the affected Postcripts on his machine... BUT IT BROKE OTHER POSTSCRIPTS!

So I suppose you could get the bug fix.  Care to roll the dice on it?

This needs ironing out by Adobe. How can companies function properly without the fonts they have purchased licences for?

Welcome to the world of Adobe -- create sparkly, new features that may or may not work, shout about them from the rooftops, and pay lip service to fixing the things that are broken.
