GEPM files wont play? on after effects

The reversed file type names are an inside gag by the programmers when they encounter hacky/ invalid file types. The rest is pretty much answered in your screenshots. AE never could handle DirectDraw/ DirectVideo based CoDecs properly and XVid certainly qualifies. You have to convert it to another format that's actually usable in AE like a plain MP4.
