Glacially Slow Viewport performance when moving/positioning Type in After Effects, since Sonoma Upadate on Mac.

40 Shapes Layers move snappily.

But four Text Layers with a single word on each chugg like its 1998.

Anyone else getting this?
8 Bit Project. Mecury GPU acelleration turned on in Settings.
Multithreading off makes no diffrence.

AE 2023 has not been updated to support Sonoma. There are likely to be issues. If you can share a project file that we can reproduce the issue with, that'd be really helpful.

It's not just type. I have the same issue with AE updating inages. It'll just... decide not to. I click around, turn layers on and off and eventually it'll decide to update things on its own. I've been doing my PT stretches while I wait for the update and I had one wait that took over 90s. The work I'm doing has a lot of layers, but it's an AEP that I've been working with on-and-off all summer. I'm tinting a couple of layers and even selecting a new color from a color palette takes a while to update, but my frame render time for that same comp is officially 5s. The viewport will stay on the same frame until the program wakes up and decides to do a little work for me. Not sure if it's since Sonoma, but it's definitely the last few days.

I've tried dumping the caches, restarting... all the basics. I was hoping someone else would have a fix.

Is there an update on this? Just updated to the latest version 24.3 hoping it would solve the performance issues - and it's still horrificly slow with just text layers and prores video backgrounds, with minimal motion blur. I've worked on comps much larger with more complexity and still moved faster than this...

Hi Ryan,

We're here to help. Could you check if it's with a specific font or any font that you use? Also, could you share a screen recording of the issue so that we can understand it better?

Note: Moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Nishu
