GPU not available - incompatible device or CUDA driver - cc 2018

Hello,

I've search for quite a while without any results so I hope you guys could help me out.

I am working on a project with lots of layers and (3d) effects. When I open the project I get the following warning. .png

When I checked the File -> Project Settings -> Video Rendering and Effects -> GPU information I noticed that the ray-tracing was set on cpu and couldn't set on GPU.

It also said that there was no compatible device or CUDA driver. Which is weird because the Device is standard in the raytracer_suppoerted_cards.txt file. I think it will really helps if I can enable this.

is this gonna help me and make playback time a lot smoother / faster or is my hardware just not what it suppose to be.

iMac - macOS High Sierra

3,4 GHz Intel Core i7

16 gb 1600 MHz DDR3

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675 MX 1GB

I am clueless about what to do to make this work. I really could use some advice.

It probably has something to do with the drivers for High Sierra.

I should point out that the ray-traced renderer stuff is unrelated to the error message you are getting. That error message is in relation to the newer GPU-accelerated effects. Are you trying to use the ray-traced renderer? It's considered obsolete and hasn't seen any development work in years. I'd recommend using the C4D renderer instead of the ray-traced renderer if you're trying to create 3d geometry. However, in most cases, it's best just to use the classic renderer.

If you click the option in the error message to render software only, things should be fine with the effects stuff.

What effects are you using in your scene?

As to the right drivers, see Rick's note here.

Hi KoenO,

Did you get your comp to export? What did you end up doing? Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi i have the same question.

My card is in the compatible devices file, but CUDA does not work anyway.

I use windows 8.1 pro, and i need to activate to use raytrace 3D.

Does anyone know what I need to do to get my GPU enabled?
