Graph Editor Won't Let Me Edit

I'm trying to make a transition smoother by editing the graph, but I can't. The graph is red, and only zooms in (like the switch at the bottom that makes your clips bigger and smaller, but with the graph) when I click it. Usually the yellow lines that help me adjust the lines come up, but now they won't. Any help?

Hi. You have Magnify selected at the top of your screen. Select the Selection Tool (from memory V is the shortcut).

I don't have Magnify selected, and I'm having the same problem.
