Hand writing text animation

I've watched several videos on how to make a script font animate as though it's being written on screen. I'm drawing paths for masks and applying the script effect. I set everything in the Effects panel that I'm supposed to (as far as I know), the "All Masks," the mask size, and the start and end points the "Reveal Original Image," etc. If I move the Start or End cursors the text animates correctly. But when I try to play it it doesn't work. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? I have the latest version of After Effects. Thanks for any help.

Creo que sería buena idea que nos muestres con una captura de video de tu pantalla para intentar ver si hay algo raro. Además, asumiendo que ya insertaste los keyframes para que se genere la animación, podrías intentar cambiando la aceleración GPU desde el panel de Project Settings.

Here is a screen capture showing all my settings with the paths revealed. I put the END cursor on zero, then moved the timeline cursor to two seconds, then moved the END cursor to 100%. And when I hit play the timeline indicator moves but nothing happens.

I think it sounds like you want to change the duration of the Composition.

The Timeline in AE, called a composoition has a set duration.

You can change it in several ways:

1 - Open the Comp Settings dialog, Composition > Composition Settings

2 - Change the Duration to the length you want, in this case whatever the timecode is at the position of your last keyframe.

or

1 - On the Timeline, move the playhead to location of the last keyframe.

2 - Move the End of the work area bar (the thick gray bar below the numbers on the time ruler) to the playhead. Either drag it or press N.

3 - Right–click on the Work Area Bar and choose "Trim Comp to Work Area"


That worked perfectly... thanks again. As I said, I only started learning After Effects this last weekend but I wanted to do a text animation quickly for a work project. Really appreciate all the help.
