Only Photoshop has a history panel. Only other option is the Edit menu.

Templates are just project files with a different extension that you either import or open.

It sounds like you need to spend some time with the basics.

The same way you do in any app. Ctrl/Cmnd + z is Undo, Shift + Ctrl/Cmnd + z is redo. Check the edit menu.

Photoshop has a panel, but After Effects has a menu!

Edit > History

Just click the state you want to revert back to.
