Question

how do I get After Effects on my Mac 10.13.6

Creative Cloud says that After Effects is incompatible with 10.13.6, but I have run After Effects on this computer in the past. I just don't presently have the app on it. Is there a way to download an earlier version?

You can typically download previous releases, such as the 2022 release which is currently available. If this release is not compatible with your MAC, there is no official way to obtain an older version.

It doesn't offer an option for an older version. I have "show older versions" clicked in preferences, but it still only offers the most recent version of After Effects. The three dots just say "Learn More" which takes me to the After Effects page which repeats the not compatible statement and doesn't offer a previous version. Extremely frustrating as older versions of After Effects does run on my machine.

I do not see an option to download the 2022 release - which is enormously frustrating. Adobe is essentially saying if you have even a slightly older computer, we no longer want you as customers. If I had simply downloaded it when I downloaded the other programs that I pay for every month with my subscription, I'd have After Effects. Apparently my existing programs would not function either and I will be forced by Adobe to abandon them and move towards open source apps. Adobe is showing that they do not care about their customer base when they stop making older versions of their program available.
