Question

How do I make a layer loop infinitely and not have to stretch time duration of layer?

I'm creating a video base template so that it's quick and easy for me to simply record a video, import into After Effects, and it has all the adjustment layers and video overlays there and ready to go.

Part of this template are a couple video overlays that I want to loop infinitely for the duration of the video I import. I've Googled and learned how to make it loop, but it requires me matching the duration of these looping videos to the imported video by dragging and stretching the duration of the layer. I have to do this every single time.

Is there a way to make it so that it will simply infinitely loop and overlay whatever video I import into this document, without having to manually change the duration every time?

Set the number of loops in the footage interpretation.

Thanks for the response.

I'm not good at After Effects. How do I do that?

Thanks a lot! Is there a way to get it to loop infinitely? Or do I have to specify an exact number of loops?

If you use Time Remapping instead and an expression (check out the video I linked for how) then you can loop it infinitly.  But you can also just shove in a really large number
