How Do I Make a Lens Flare Solid Transparent?

I made some lens flares that were working, the solid layer was set to Alpha. Now the solids don't become transparent when I make a lens flare?

Do I need to use something besides Add to make the solid transparent?

This is the timeline before the playhead arrives at the solid.

And after the playhead arrives at the solid, the black is visible.

This was just working a few days ago. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you want true alpha transparency you can use an Unmult plugin.  Red Giant provide Knoll Light Factory Unmult for free here:

To illustrate Andrew's answer to this post:

Lens Flare will look like this before Unmult is applied:

    And then like this after:

In these screenshots, I'm using the current version of the Unmult effect which is included with Red Giant Universe.  If following Andrew's link, scroll down to "Knoll Light Factory Unmult".

Hi. You need another layer underneath that it can mix (Add) with.
