How do I make the preview button ONLY play normal speed from play head. NOTHING ELSE like speed up

Im thinking like in a video editor Just play from where ever I set the play head ie scene 1 20 seconds in and just play normal speed.

Not speed up, slow donw, jump to whereever it was playing before, skip to 45 seconds or a minute ahead, stop playing sound ahd basically doing its owh thing and not what I want please?

It seems to get lines underneath the play button whihc looks to me liek an indicator or changign speed to double speed etc.

Its driving me bat do  do and majorly slowing me down.

Ie remove any short cuts, intitions, intiative, its own creativeitym etc wetc

Just okay reguaklr speed from where I want or slowign down or speedign up as I slide the play head likign when editign video. (and with sound). ANd not turnign off the sound please

It sounds like you want to enable "Cache Before Playback".   This checkbox is located in the Preview panel.

It's also going to be helpful to make sure Composition > Preview > Cache Frames While idle is enabled.

If it seems that it's taking a long time to cache the Preview, try lowering the Composition Resolution to favor faster caching with lower image quality.   If Full Resolution previews are important, you may need to allow time for them to cache and use the Composition Profiler to identify Layers that are taking more time to render.

For playback speed, make sure that the Frame Rate pop-up menu in the Preview panel is set to "Auto" (the Composition frame rate will show in parenthesis is the Frame Rate dialog box).

As Warren said, enabling Cache Before Playback should solve the problem. You'll still have to wait for the frames to render.

It's also a good idea to set the Comp Panel resolution to Auto instead of Full when running previews.
