If you mean this:

  1. Create a text layer
  2. Add type with a stroke
  3. Make the layer 3D
  4. Animate rotation and Z position to get the text to spin and move away from you
  5. Pre-compose
  6. Apply Echo
  7. Adjust the number of copies, timing blend mode and other parameters as needed to get the look you want

The screenshot shows you everything I did to the text layer and the nested comp. You should be able to duplicate this with no problems.
