Hi, so I'm new to after Effects and this is my first time trying to edit something on the software. As I was moving around and editing some clips a bar appeared that made it difficult to playback the edit and contimue to edit. I'm not sure what to even call it, and 'm not sure what i pressed or did to make it appear but I don't know how to make it go away. I have attached some pictures of the "bar".

The wndow you are in is the Layer window. It usally opens up when you double–click on a layer. Click on the tab next to it that says composition to return to the main animation/effects panel.

If you are referring to the blue and green indicators thats just telling you whether the application has your frames in RAM or cached in memory for playback. It doesn't afftect anything, it's just an indicator of where frames are beign stored for playback. How well your timeline plays back depends on your computer set up, and the complexity of whats on your timeline.
