how to restart after effects

is there a way in restarting after effects, like an option or do you just close out of it?

Hey,

To the best of my knowledge, closing and reopening is the only way to restart After Effects. Is there any specific reason you want to restart the app? Let us know if you need any help troubleshooting. We'll be happy to help you troubleshoot.

I answered this in your other thread.  Quit from AE like you would with any other major application, then restart it.

On a Mac, Cmd Q is the shortcut to quit an application.  Or choose After Effects > Quit After Effects.

In Windows, use Alt F4, or choose File > Quit After Effects. (From memory, may be slightly different wording)
