How to trace a ball path.

Hello. I am trying to trace the path of a golf ball as on the following video. could someone tell me how to do it. Thank you in advance.

    I'm sure you're aware that what you see in that video was not done in AE or any post production software.

    It's done with live motion tracking & satellite GPS.

    But to try and do it in AE you either need to use motion tracking on the ball and then parent a shape with an echo effect or a particle emitter to the motion path

    or

    just create a path by hand and use tirm paths operation to create the tracer.

    I would think doing it by hand is the faster workflow since trying to motion track a golfball that's 300 yards from the camera might take some time.

    The Write-on effect will allow you to adjust the width of a stroke. Further, you can use the Expression pick whip to link the the Write-on effect's position property to the motion tracked data.
