Hi there can anyone direct me to video that talks about weaving lines. My example is not a great way to do it. I think if the plait or weaving runs at slightly different timing you can get a pseudo effect but really weaving seems like it may be alot harder or more 3d software. My example is not the way to do it but helps show the under and over of weaving.
You can use a copy of one line as an Alpha Inverted Track matte for the other line, so you poke holes in every intersection. Then on every other intersection, if you add a Subtraction mask to the track matte, you will poke holes in every other intersection. Screenshots may help.
Duplicate layer 2 (Green Line), move the duplicate above Layer 1 (Yellow Line), set the Green Line Duplicate as an Alpha Inverted track matte, and turn off the bottom layer (The original Green Line), so you can see the holes in the Yellow Line.
Select the Rectangle tool (q) and make sure Mask is selected if you are working with shape layers, then drag a mask around every other intersection and hold down the "s" key before you release the mouse to change the mask from Add to Subtract.
All that is left to do is turn on Layer 3 (The green line).
